Re-Homing Your Bird

Re-homing/surrendering your bird is an incredibly emotional decision.  For whatever reason, weather it be an allergy, a baby, a move, a job loss, a financial decision, a change of relationship status, if you find that you must re-home your bird, there are a few options.

You can choose to place ads and screen potential adopters.  Please do be aware that with birds, many people will adopt them, and in turn will "flip" them, and resell them for profit.

A few tips to avoid this:
*Always trust your gut!  If you think it's a mistake, it probably is!
*Ask for veterinarian references.
*If you are local, you can ask to do a "home check".
*ALWAYS have adopters sign an agreement.
*Scan classified ads.
*Go onto bird forums and ask members there about people, they may or may not know.

If you are local to us, we do, from time to time, take in birds of any species.  We will not buy them, but will also not ask for a surrender fee.  9 times out of 10 these birds then become part of our family.  Or, we will screen potential adopters very thoroughly and place the bird in the best home possible with no adoption fee.  Many times the adopters are people who are on our waiting list for an "older adopted" bird.

We may also be able to assist you in placing your bird.  With all of our previously sold babies: we will take the baby back and assist in finding a new home.  We will not be able to issue you a refund for the baby.  But the baby will be safe and trained while he is here!

If you do approach us for help with placing your baby, we will do our best to do so with compassion, tact and the greatest intentions to do what is best for your baby.
